OUR Preacher

James Rogers is the Pulpit Minister of the West Side Church of Christ, Ft. Dodge, IA and previously for 4 years at the Lockett Hwy Church of Christ, Vernon, TX. A retired marine (medically). James and Tabetha, between them, have 5 grown children and 8 fantastic grand-children.

James is a graduate from Sunset International Bible Institute with a Bachelor of Biblical Studies. James had been a Mentor and Mentor coordinator with Setting Captives Free an on-line ministry helping those with addictive, compulsive issues for 9 years. Currently James is settling in to the new home with West Side Church of Christ and the community of Fort Dodge. He looks forward to getting involved in the community and getting the community involved with West Side.

Prior to coming to Texas James lived in Oceanside CA and served as Men’s Ministry Leader as well as a deacon in a non-denominational church. After coming to Texas, he served as an elder in a denominational church in Dickens TX and had the opportunity to preach and to teach often.

Life in this world is not easy and it is not perfect, but we can learn from our past, from our mistakes and press on toward the goal the upward call of Christ. James has had victory from drugs and alcohol for over 30 years. Life experiences that were one a hinderance are now a benefit for the brethren to help others to find forgiveness, and have victory in Christ Jesus.

What is the goal? James goal is two-fold that the gospel be shared so that all men may come to repentance. And to remind the saved how to conduct themselves within the house of God to be fully prepared to share the hope that is in them with the equipping they received when they were received by the Lord into the body.

OUR CHURCH

The Westside Church of Christ is a congregation of God's people who believe in loving God by doing His Will (John:14:15) and in loving each other in order that others may see that we follow Christ (JHN 13:34). We believe the Bible to be the very Word of God and thus authoritative in every aspect of our lives (2TM 3:16-17). Our worship services are according to the pattern revealed in the New Testament. On the Lord's Day we sing (a cappella), pray, give as we have been prospered, have preaching and partake of the Lord's Supper. We have classes for all ages on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. We also have a Sunday evening service each week. The church is together frequently for fellowship and work activities.
